What are the benefits of using henna on natural african american hair? Does Henna loosen your curl pattern over time? Does it add shine, strength, or elasticity? |

I use it as the first step in my two-step henna/indigo treatment to cover grays. It seems to add strength, as the amount of shedding and breakage I experience is immediately reduced after a treatment, but I don't think there's a curl loosening effect. I'd say use it as a stand-in for a protein treatment, and make sure to do a deep condition afterwards since hair can feel dry and brittle after henna. |

I've been using henna for a year now. I love the strenghting aspect of it and, after a year of use, I am loving the color it's given my hair. As far as loosing my curl pattern..my hair is kiny and coily as ever! |
