I watched a video about it, and the people who produce the product (for salons) say that it is "good" for the hair. However, I took a close look at someone's hair today who has been getting the japanese straightening for a year. Her hair looked awful, dry, parched. I want straight hair, but I also am protective, as my hair is not short :) Any advice appreciated. |

The Japanese straighteners have the same chemicals as the Brazilian blowouts. In the short term they can create sleek hair but ultimately they can ruin the health of your hair. One watch out is for formaldehyde which is the harshest ingredient in the bunch. Be careful because even the products that claim to be formaldehyde free often have it as seen in this report: |
